Service Message – John Kocurek

New Service Technicians

As is the case in most trades, technicians are vitally important to any service organization.  We are in a specialized industry and trained, experienced technicians are key to reaching our growth initiatives.  One of the best ways to accomplish our goals and be successful is to train “green” employees and put them on a path to becoming a Service Technician.

A good candidate for a Service Technician would be mechanically and electronically inclined. They would have above average computer skills and have a knack for diagnosing issues and making repairs. These core characteristics are not always easy to find. Candidates are found through referrals and relatives. Technical schools are also great places to find new recruits.

Ron Billmyre, Director of Training for D&H United is putting together a New To Industry “NTI” Training Program. This program directs a new employee to complete the following requirements in 90 days:

  • API Safety Training
  • State Calibration Testing and Licensing
  • PEI Recommended Practices Material (reading and understanding)
  • Training in Franklin Fueling products
  • Red Jacket submersible pumps and leak detectors

By completing these objectives in 90 days, it can be determined if a new hire has the potential to move forward as a Certified Service Technician at which time a path of training can be laid out and planned. This is the beginning of a great career!

Most importantly, we are in a specialized industry and truly value investing in training our TEAM!
