Project Mercury Update
Welcome to the June edition of our Mercury Project update! We’re excited to share the latest progress and developments as we continue our journey towards implementing our new ERP system. Here’s what’s been happening:
- Software Selection Progress: Our implementation team has been hard at work in the software selection phase of the project. We have concluded a 5-month rigorous process that included deep-dive product demonstrations and multiple follow-up sessions with our top 5 vendors. All vendors were scored and ranked by our Process Owners and demo participants, resulting in the selection of our top two vendors. The top two vendors then went through detailed proof of concept demonstrations and Technician demos for Remote Field Service functionality. The result was unanimous: SAP and their implementation partner, Cognitus, were the clear choice. We are now working through the documentation surrounding our agreement. More to come.
- Data Migration: Data migration is a crucial aspect of our ERP project. We’ve been meticulously planning our data migration strategy to extract and load data from our legacy systems to the new ERP platform while ensuring accuracy and data integrity. What can you do to help..? You can start now by:
Closing old POs and Work Orders
Eliminating duplicate sites, billing accounts, and parts #’s
Collecting and applying payments to clear AR - User Training: To ensure a smooth transition, we will work with our implementation partner to develop and execute comprehensive training sessions for end-users across departments. These sessions are designed to familiarize users with the new system’s interface, features, and functionalities.
- Testing Phase: Quality assurance is paramount in our ERP implementation journey. We will also work with our software and Implementation partners on a robust testing phase, where we’re conducting thorough testing to identify and resolve any issues or bugs before the system goes live.
- Change Management: Change management activities are ongoing to facilitate a seamless transition for all stakeholders. We will communicate regularly with all business unit leaders and employees to address concerns, gather feedback, and foster a culture of acceptance and readiness for change.
- Go-Live Preparation: As we approach the final stages of implementation, we will be gearing up for the go-live phase. We’re finalizing deployment plans, contingency measures, and support mechanisms to ensure a successful launch.
- Upcoming Milestones: Looking ahead, we have several critical milestones on the horizon, including finalizing details of the software and service agreements, project kick-off, and scheduling of design and build workshops. As we enter the implementation phase, we remain committed to meeting our project timelines and delivering a robust ERP solution that meets our business needs.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to this critical initiative. Together, we’re transforming our business operations for the better.
