Mountain West Update – Craig Hoyer
I like to equate life to sports. Like many of us, I’ve enjoyed playing sports during my school years, and have also enjoyed watching my kids play sports. In addition, I’ve had the opportunity to coach young kids in various sports always focusing on coaching more than the game itself.
I would think that a vast majority of us have a favorite team. For me, I can honestly say that in Colorado, my favorite team is D & H United/Kubat. The people that I am fortunate enough to call my teammates are what makes this my favorite team. I love encouraging my teammates and then watching them strive to get better each and every day, focusing on beating the competition. Why play the game if you don’t go to win, right?
Some sports like golf and gymnastics are individual sports. To win at these sports requires a person to focus on their own achievements and to strive to make each performance better. Most employees at D & H United/Kubat work independently and focus on making themselves better by earning additional certificates, helping to train fellow team members, making sure our actions don’t negatively affect the next guy that handles the issue, or striving to get better at tasks and assignments each day.
While there are a lot of individual sports out there, the sports that I am most familiar with are team sports. Team sports require each team member to know their assignment in order for the team to be successful. The teams that have the highest success rate are teams that have individuals who move on the field or court without the ball. We have a lot of team members who regularly move without the ball – I think of our support staff, who work behind the scenes to make the customer experience seamless and positive. Sometimes their efforts are not necessarily recognized by our customers, but expected just the same. Success might be easier to gauge for others…those who compete day to day against our competition to win projects and those who interact with our customers while working on their sites. Regardless of how forward-facing your job is, it’s important for all of us to remember that it takes the whole team to make it all come together. When we all work together, it’s rewarding to achieve the success that results from teamwork.
Team D & H United runs business like most successful teams, focusing on hiring the best talent to drive that success. Our focus is on our people and their families, knowing that having the best talent helps bring us the best customers and vendors in our industry. If you want to learn about the hard work being done by our teams, take a peek at the Company Cam where our front-line tech’s hard work is on display for the entire company to see. I would encourage everyone to spend some time looking at our daily success and learn what great work our people are quoting, selling and performing for our customers. If you want to learn about the hard-working team members working inside our office buildings, take look at how many materials are being purchased, shipped, staged for projects, paid for and invoiced to customers on a monthly basis. Believe me, it’s staggering.
I am proud to be a part of D & H United/Kubat in Colorado. It’s a hard-working team that I plan to continue working with, fighting alongside, and encouraging to compete and win both today and into the future.
