Construction Corner – Mike Key
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Construction Corner here at Conversations from the Pump. As most of you can attest to, we are busy, and that is probably an understatement. We are already looking at 2023 as our backlog has filled up this year.
With continued opportunities coming our way, Aaron Burrell (Regional Construction Manager) and Roland Rodriguez (Regional Electrical Manager) have had their hands full. Both have been successful in adding new members to our team and staying in front of difficult scheduling challenges. Those new members include:
- J Corpos (Construction Team)
- Rene Aguirre (Construction Team)
- Dustin Luna (Construction Team)
- Octavio Pruneda (Construction Team)
- Abel Rodriguez (Construction Team)
- Andy Pruneda (Construction Team)
- Jerry Rivera (Electrical Team)
- Raul Ugalde (Electrical Team)
- Rene Rivera (Construction/Electrical Team)
All of these guys reside on the Valley in the far southern part of Texas. Due to the massive footprint we cover (over 135,000 square miles in the East half of Texas alone), these crew members typically work 2 weeks out, 1 weekend home then 2 weeks our again. A few of these guys only spent 2 nights at home the entire month of February.
We also added Billy Gonzalez to our team from our Houston market. Billy has been doing an incredible job for us and is running our Houston projects in the field. I want to once again welcome all of these guys to the team and Thank them all for the hard work and dedication to the job.
I looked back at the last article I wrote a year ago. I talked about unprecedented rain falls and provided a picture of our site that was completely underwater. Well things are a little different this year as we would really like to see some of those rains from last year. We are now in a severe draught with dangerously high temperatures. Our jobsites registered temperatures of 108, 111 and 112 last week and we are forecasted for 107 today. Sure would like to see some of the rain again.
As I mentioned above, I had included a picture of a jobsite completely submerged in last year’s article. Here is a photo of the same site completed. This is Nueces County Airport, an $850,000.00 Aviation Fuel project.
Thanks for stopping by the Construction Corner and we will see you next time.
Stay hydrated out there,
Mike
