Construction Corner – Manny Cordova
Hello all, I’d like to take a moment to speak about what has been happening in the heavy construction team in the West region. We are currently building a lot of sites for a long time (since 1994) customer. These installations are primarily in New Mexico and West Texas and since September of last year we have completed seven new sites, have five additional sites underway, and have also completed five tank removals. And the good news is that we expect many more to come over the next couple of years. All of these projects have been very challenging in many ways. We have had to deal with supply chain issues, logistics problems, and manpower. But we have met the customer’s expectations and completed the jobs on time with the highest quality workmanship. One interesting aspect of these jobs is that we had to use a unique tank installation process known as Man Out of Hole. For this process, no personal make an excavation hole entry. All tank install activities are done at grade level by using boom lifts, long reach excavators, and long rods to pack lower quadrants of tanks (see picture). This process involves a lot of patience so a big shout out to the construction guys in the West Region for adapting to this new process.
Additionally, we are playing a big part of Circle K’s expansion by building five sites for them in the El Paso area and four sites in the Lubbock/Amarillo area. New Mexico is next on their expansion plan and we are ready to serve them their as well.
