Construction Corner – Mike Key
Welcome everyone to this quarter’s edition of the Construction Corner. Where does the time go? Seems like only yesterday that we released our first edition of Conversations from the Pump. What can I tell you about the Installation team here in the East Region? Well, we are busy and seeing unprecedented opportunities. Our backlog is full through the remainder of 2021 and beginning to fill up for Q1 of 2022.
I’d first like to talk about our Electrical team. Thanks to the efforts of Michael Farrell, we continue to win multiple contracts from Texas Department of Transportation which is keeping our electrical team on their toes. Roland Rodriquez is working hard while the project/admin team of Alan Lopez and Linda Benke keeping the field team on track. A big Kudos goes out to Hal Whitsitt and the Electrical Crew out of DFW as they embrace their home away from home out in Abilene working on 11 different locations for TX Dot preparing for Emergency Backup Generators and new electrical services. And then there is Chris Salmon and Raul Simental out of San Antonio (welcome back Chris) running all over the State of Texas keeping our fuel system electrical going. They are concentration on our fuel system electrical and are doing an amazing job.
Our construction Team is Staying busy as well, mostly trying to out run the rain. We have had record rainfall in many of the areas we are working this year causing our guys to have to pack it up and bounce between jobsites. The team will have wrapped up a couple of ground up sites this month and breaking ground on 3 more.
I would like to highlight some personal achievements of a few of our team members.
- Anthony Johnson from our DFW team is now our first Licensed Installer in the State of Louisiana. Congratulations Anthony.
- Bryce Wilson is scheduled to get his license this year in Louisiana as well. This will give D&H United much more opportunity in the years to come.
- Chris Matherne works out of our San Antonio office. Many of you know that QuikTrip (QT) is an important customer to us. I received a call from QT’s Corporate Construction Supervisor asking me if I could dispatch Chris Matherne to a site that needed some repairs. Chris was requested specifically because QT trusted D&H United more than the installing contractor. Thank you Chris for you dedication and hard work.
- And then there is Hal. Hal Whitsitt has been with us just over 6 years now. Hal came on board as the Master of Record (this is our State electrical lead) for D&H United. Hal has intentions of retiring at the end of this year (if we let him, lol). I would like to thank Hal for all he has done for D&H United over the years and wish him continued success in his retirement.
It is a complete TEAM effort here in the East Region and we could not do what we do if it were not for each and every member of the D&H United Family. Thanks for taking the time to stop by the Construction Corner and we will talk to you all soon.
