Changes in the Workplace
It’s natural to think that change in the workplace is a bad thing. It can be scary, daunting, it removes a person from their comfort zone. But change in the workplace is good.
There are many positive aspects from change in an organization including retaining a competitive edge and remaining relevant in your industry. It also encourages innovation, develops skills, develops staff, and leads to better business opportunities. Companies that are not willing to change can stagnate and not develop.
Change is scary though and makes people uncomfortable. It can be difficult in the workplace to get employees to adapt to change because for many, it is easier (and more comfortable) to do what they have always done.
The last few months have brought many changes to our company. There have been four acquisitions completed and each one meant there was going to be some change. For the most part, those impacted the most by these changes were those employees who were part of the companies who were acquired. There were many concerns such as would there be any loss of jobs, changes in leadership, or changes to processes and procedures. These are normal concerns when something as monumental as an acquisition happens. However, the changes that have happened with these acquisitions have been good ones and beneficial for all. They include more resources such as personnel and inventory, new customers and opportunity for growth with current customers, better business opportunities, and new ideas and innovation.

Organizations that are not afraid to make changes are ones that will stand above the competition and will allow the company to move forward into new areas. They are seen as a company that is more easily able to adapt to new circumstances and react to change and viewed as one which is relevant and keen to advance.
Please remember, if any of these changes that were made in the last few months have you concerned, please feel free to reach out to your supervisor, a member of leadership, or me. I can assure you that these changes were made not only with the company in mind but also with employees in mind.
