Safety Message – Stan Pier
Safety back in the 50’s and late 70’s was not a practice or part of the everyday working environment for someone that worked in the Service Station Equipment business
The traveling public normally didn’t get out of their cars in the early days of service station life. Attendants would pump your gas, check the oil, clean the windows and check the air in the tires. Now, we get out of our vehicles, pump our own gas and if we think about it, clean our windshield and check the air in the tires. This is where the danger comes to play. The traveling public is so focused on what they need, they don’t think of consequences or trouble they may cause.
In the late 80’s a big push for SAFETY was initiated due to statistics and insurance claims the oil companies were having to pay. People by nature are safe, but we’ve got a certain percentage of the population that do not care about anything but themselves. Injuries were on the rise and something had to be done.

Today we see the results of the safety initiative that was put into practice. Our way of life has changed and WE as an employee of a Service Station Equipment Company have adopted a Safety Culture that engulfs not only our safety but everyone around us. We are the Safety Captain anytime we are working on dispensers, sub pumps, tank monitors and including the POS. We are responsible for the safety of people around us as we work on this equipment. Adopt the mindset of THINK SAFETY! Do your 360 Walkaround your vehicle and make sure your investment and the company asset are secure. You are needed by your family and we want you home safe! You are our Number 1 Priority!
