Construction Corner – Mike Key

Hello everyone and welcome to the Construction Corner of D&H United Fueling Solutions. My name is Mike Key and I am the Corporate Construction Manager for D&H United.  I am in my 15th year with the company and am excited to share with you a glimpse into the Installation portion of our business, including construction and electrical.

Many of you may or may not know that we share the same business footprint with many of our customers.  This has allowed our opportunities to stretch across all the multiple state we work in.  QuikTrip (QT) and 7-Eleven are two good examples.  Our Construction, Electrical and Project Management teams have not only successfully installed multiple sites for these customers but have impressed them during the process.

Special thanks go out to Chris Matherne (San Antonio crew leader) and Alan Lopez (Project Manager) for their roles in building a great relationship with QT.

Additionally, I want to thank Michael Farrell (Regional Salesman) and Anthony Queisser (Construction Manager) for their outstanding performance on the 7-Eleven project.

Now for something outside our traditional wheelhouse – Emergency Backup Generators.  For the past couple of years, the East Region electrical division has found a new niche for D&H United.  The East Region has successfully installed 17 Emergency Generators across the state of Texas.  Ten of these sites were for TXDot’s Tourist Information Centers.  One site in Orange, TX (pictures included) was especially challenging as it was built next to a bayou and had to be put on a platform.  Kudos go out to Joe Stanbury (Site Superintendent), Hal Whitsitt (Master Electrician) and Roland Rodriguez (East Region Electrical Manager) for a Job well done.

The East Region Installation team consists of only 12 construction technicians, 5 electricians, 2 project managers and one very busy admin.  Linda Benke (East Region Construction Admin) is our newest core team member and comes to us from a strong construction background.  Linda has officially been part of the team since June of last year and has proven to be a strong hub to our wheel.

That’s it from the Construction Corner of this Edition of Conversations at the Pump.  We will see you next time.  Stay safe everyone,

Mike
