Branded marketers can upgrade dispensers’ POS and other technologies
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Chevron- and Texaco-branded marketers can now take advantage of a program through Gilbarco Veeder-Root to upgrade gasoline dispensers to EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) security standards.
Chevron Corp. has partnered with Gilbarco on the limited-time program to help its branded retailers upgrade to EMV-compliant dispensers in advance of the 2020 deadline.
All gasoline retailers in the United States have until Oct. 1, 2020, to update the point-of-sale systems in their fuel pumps to accept chip-enabled credit and debit cards to improve security. Those that don’t face fines from Visa and MasterCard.
Participants in the Gilbaro program will also be able to add other technology upgrades such as NFC (near field communication) readers to provide contactless payment.
