The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality recently announced a grant program covering DC Fast Charge EV chargers. The grant monies are part of the Volkswagen settlement with the US government and are open to all business entities. The grant will fund up to 70% or $600,000 of the project including charging equipment and infrastructure costs. The application period opens November 2 and closes December 3. Following are a few requirements of the grant:
- Minimum 175kW charger
- Site must be open to the public
- Site must be 1/2 mile (as the crow flies) from an Interstate, US, or State highway
- Must be new site. Replacement of existing DCFC or Level 2 charger not covered
The grants are allocated on a first come, first serve basis with the funding coming after the project is complete. The grantee has 24 months from contract signing with the TCEQ to complete the project. For more information please see included link.
